"I started out in school playing the alto sax and picked up piano and singing along the way. When I discovered songwriting, it took me over," said Mark recently. "I started writing seriously in the early 90's. In 2001, I moved from Boston to Phoenix, and one fateful day I met Emilio Castillo. That meeting has spawned a great friendship and a great deal of songwriting." The visible result of all that songwriting is Mark's new release, "Lookin' at Tomorrow", with lyrics co-written with Emilio Castillo, founding member and band leader of Oakland's legendary soul band "Tower of Power". The new CD also features David Garibaldi, Mike Bogart and Raymond McKinley from Tower of Power and horn arrangements by frequent Tower of Power arranger, Dave Eskridge. |
